Dear Friends of South Haven,
The Historical Association of South Haven is nearing the end of its ninth year and, thanks to you, it was the most memorable and productive year ever. We celebrated our pioneer history by bringing the Celebration of Michigan’s History program to the North Shore Elementary School and supported the efforts of historical clubs at all grade levels. The Association applied for ownership of the lighthouse and, with the application approved, is close to concluding the title transfer process. We sponsored a lighthouse drawing contest in the elementary schools and used the winning entry for this year’s poster. The drawings were on display at Hartman School and in the Hale Stores windows. A model lighthouse was built for our spring open house and an exhibit mounted around the model featuring photographs taken of the lighthouse over the years. This exhibit is in the Appleyard Gallery at Hartman School. We had the opportunity to publish a new book with accompanying DVD titled “Cottages and Resorts on the North Beach” by Helen O’Rourke and Ken and Linda Hogan. An exhibit of photographs by Helen O’Rourke was hung in the East Gallery and is still on display. The summer season was rounded out with the Ice Cream Social and a variety of programs. I hope you were able to join us for some of these events.

This and our continuing effort to organize our donations and catalog our large collection of photographs is what defines us and allows us to educate and entertain the community through programs and exhibits.
We Need your help to be able to finance these programs.
To Accomplish These Goals For 2012 We Need Your Continued Support
By making a tax deductible contribution, you will make possible your Historical Association’s continued effort to preserve South Haven’s history for future generations. When you decide on your options for year-end giving, please consider supporting the Historical Association of South Haven.
