The Historical Association of South Haven will welcome Kim Roe-Kester as she presents “Salem Witch Trials in Your Family Tree” on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 PM.
Between early 1692 and mid-1693, more than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts. Twenty of the accused were executed in Salem, MA.
With this presentation, local historian Kim Roe-Kester will provide avenues of research to look back at your own family tree regarding these connections. Additionally, she will touch on the political and religious climate of the time which culminated in the hysteria that led to the trials, as well as dispelling some of the myths that surround this sad time in our country.
Kim has been involved with genealogical research for 40 years, after having her interest initially piqued when she received a short family history from her maternal Grandfather.
She is a member of the Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society and volunteers in their Genealogy room twice a month. Kim is also on the Board of Directors for the Bangor Historical Society.
This program is free and open to the public and will take place at our Hartman School headquarters located at 355 Hubbard St.
