Dear Friend of South Haven,
As a member of the Historical Association of South Haven, you are an essential part of preserving and making available the historical record of the South Haven area. Now in our 17th year, the Historical Association is grateful that you have continued to support the preservation and promotion of the history of South Haven. Your financial support has enabled us to continue to reach out to the schools, host programs at Hartman School, allow the use of the facility for community events, and provide the resources to house an ever-increasing library of photos, books, artifacts, and other materials for research. We have volunteers and interns engaged in cataloging the materials donated to the archives. Your support for the Historical Association continues to allow us to preserve and protect the lighthouse as well as the Hartman School building. We continue to have an ever increasing demand for our services, which are costly to provide.
Thank you for being an integral part of this effort, but we continue to need your support! The Historical Association of South Haven relies completely on memberships to fulfill our mission to preserve South Haven’s history by providing, research resources, education and entertainment. Support through your membership for as little as $30 per year, makes all that the Historical Association does possible.
Join us on Saturday. May 25th from 7,00-9,00 p.m. for our Spring Open House and Exhibit -“Coming Home – South Haven, 1956”. In 1956, Richard Appleyard took to the streets of South Haven and photographed the downtown area which he knew was on the verge of dramatic change. The exhibit celebrates that photographic chronicling of our history with a display of those photos as well as a counterpoint of current photos to show the changes over the years.
The Open House kicks off our summer events and we hope to see you at every one! Please save the enclosed reminder card and make plans to join us! Be a part of this important journey by completing the membership form attached to the return envelope. The Historical Association is a 50l(c)(3) non-profit organization, allowing your dues to be tax deductible.
With your help it’s sure to be another splendid year.
Sincerely, Amanda Creeden
