As a member of the Historical Association of South Haven, you are an essential part of preserving and making available the historical record of the South Haven area. Now in our fourteenth year, the Historical Association is pleased that you have continued to value our efforts to preserve and promote the history of South Haven by providing the financial support that allows us to work on your behalf. This support has enabled us to continue to reach out to the schools, host programs at Hartman school, allows the use of those facilities for community events and has provided the resources to house an ever-increasing library of photos, books, artifacts, and other materials for research. Your support for the Historical Association continues to allow us to administer the lighthouse as well as the Hartman School building which has a new access ramp and ADA-compliant bathroom. After a very successful capital campaign for the lighthouse restoration, raising over $300,000, we are busy putting the money to work. We continue to have an ever increasing demand for our services, which are expensive to provide. Thank you for being an integral part of this effort.
We need your support! The Historical Association of South Haven relies completely on memberships to continue to provide for our mission of preserving South Haven’s history through education and entertainment. Support through your membership is as little as $30 per year and makes all
that the Historical Association does possible.
Join us on May 28th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for our Spring Open House. The popular “Catskills of the Midwest – The Jewish Resort Era in South Haven” returns to the Appleyard Gallery at Hartman School. First shown in 2005 at the SHCA,this will be a completely new look at this endearing part of our history. We will present a slide show describing the resorts and show images from our collections so that you can see what South Haven looked like during those years. The presentation will begin at 7:30 pm, and is sure to whet your appetite for the progressive traditional Jewish brunch on June 26th. Check your enclosed summer events card for details.
The Open House kicks off our summer events – and we hope to see you at every one! Please consult the enclosed reminder card and make plans to
join us. Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of this important journey. Just complete the membership form attached to the return envelope. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which allows your dues to be tax deductible. With your help, it’s sure to be another splendid year.
Sincerely,
Amanda Creeden
